Prashant Mohesh is a Mauritian underwater photographer and filmmaker. He is also a drone pilot, scuba diver, and first-aider.
As a 2021 National Geographic Young Explorer Awardee, Prashant's passion for marine conservation shines through his impactful initiatives. From leading summer camps for young divers to organizing beach cleanups and teaching youth about coral restoration, he's committed to supporting the next generation of ocean stewards.
Being an experienced underwater explorer, Prashant has led successful expeditions, including the first Deep-Sea Exploratory Expedition in Mauritius in collaboration with the National Geographic Exploration Technology Lab, and Odysseo Oceanarium. This project aimed to study the megafauna in the deep waters of Mauritius at depths ranging from 300m to 1500m.
In his remarkable career spanning over 5 years in the film industry, Prashant has worked on corporate and wildlife production projects, ultimately specializing in underwater photo, and filmmaking. His work has been recognized on prestigious platforms, including a showcase at a NatGeo Africa & Disney Spotlight event in November 2023.
In 2024, Prashant joined the NEWF organization as the first fellow from Mauritius, where he serves as the Executive Producer of the short film "SEA OF CHANGE," which highlights the his inspiring changemaking journey from fear to love of the ocean, and the magical encounters he had with the resident sperm whales of Mauritius.
